Meet Miles Dale

On February 28, we welcomed our sweet tiny baby into the world. Miles Dale was 8lbs 6oz, 20.5 inches long. He looks just like his brother and sister did and is perfect in every way.

I tried my darndest to go into labor on my own, but alas, my induction date arrived before I could once again. Defeated, I arrived at the hospital at 8 am to start the process. They hooked me up to the monitors and behold, I was having some regular contractions, that I thought were just the braxton hicks I'd been having for weeks. They checked my cervix and I was a 4-5 cm, which meant I had made my own progress from the 2 cm I was 4 days prior. We did the paperwork, then the doctor came in to break my water to see if that would kick things up a notch.

Well kick things up a notch they did. I suddenly dilated to like a 7, the nurses were all freaking out, the anesthesiologist wasn't there yet, I was getting contractions one after another, I was freaking out that I wouldn't get an epidural in time, and it was just crazy.

Finally the anesthesiologist arrived, she quickly eased my pain, and I relaxed for a short period of time. They checked me again around 10:40 and I was fully dilated. They made quick work of getting everything ready, the doctor arrived, and after 3 pushes our sweet son arrived at 10:54.

It went insanely fast, but it was a non-pitocin induction, which means that other than my water getting broke by the doctor, I was able to do it all on my own, which means I'm not a complete failure :) The nurse said that as fast as it went, had I not had that induction that day, I probably would have waited too long at home before going to the hospital and, well, I don't even want to think about what would have happened in that short time span. Ugh.
