Have you noticed this weather lately? Ok, rhetorical question of course.
This weekend is the 36th Annual Lincoln Marathon. It's supposed to be rainy with a high of 63 degrees. So not exactly ideal weather to run 13.1 or 26.2 miles in. Lucky for me, I'm not participating this year.
I am however running in the Girls on the Run 5k with my sister and niece in 2 weeks. To prepare, I started running 5 weeks after having Miles. My first two times out, I ran a mile and it was hard. It just blew my mind that I was in good enough shape to run a half-marathon, a 10k and four 5k's last year, and I could barely run a freaking mile.
Yeah yeah, I had a baby. I know what happened. But, I am 10lbs heavier then I was then and feel like I have a hole where my abs used to be, it's ruined my whole running groove.
The weather halted my training for a few weeks, then I went out again. This time I was able to run 2 miles, at a pretty decent pace and it gave me a little more confidence for this upcoming 5k. I mean if I can run 2 miles, surely I can run 3.1 right? Yeah we'll see.
Weather pending, I'm going to try to get some more running in over the next few weeks. I love the fresh air, the exercise and most importantly, the break I get from the kids. It refreshes my mind and it helps me drop weight. A win-win right?
