The half is over

Today I ran my third half marathon and despite horrific odds and little to no training, I'd say I pretty much rocked it.

Ok, that may be a stretch, but I did good and only finished less than 1 minute behind my 2012 time with a 2:17:17. I'm ecstatic about that really. The last 2 miles of the race this year were brutal and they hurt me. I struggled hard. Very hard. Ugh.

I attribute that fact to my barely there training this year. In 2012 I ran 96.64 miles in preparation for that half marathon. This year I ran 33.6 miles. So that amounts pretty much to no training really. What a slacker I am.

For the fun of it I'll share my distance for 2011: 131.98 miles. Nearly 100 freakin miles more than this year. Oh to just have 2 kids and live in Alabama again. In retrospect, I really should have appreciated that scenario a little bit more than I did.

But for heaven's sake, if I would have had time to actually train, imagine how well I could have done.

Maybe next year.
