It snowed last week. Twice. This means I can't run, or won't run depending upon how you look at it. I mean I'm dedicated, but I'm not THAT dedicated.
Anyway, the weather got nicer over the weekend so I was able to get out for a few short runs. Turns out these were probably my best runs of the year. On Saturday I was able to run my fastest 2 mile since 2011, then yesterday I beat that time by a full minute, resulting in my fastest 2 mile since I've been keeping track and I'm 98% sure it's my fastest since high school. I'm not sure on that last part because I've only been weird enough to track my runs for the past 4 years, but I didn't really run prior to that, so I'm fairly confident.
Why does this matter? Because this year my goal is to increase my speed. I already know I can finish a half marathon. I've done that 3 times. I barely trained at all last year and was able to complete it about minute slower than my run in 2012. (I took 2013 off because I had Miles.) So I'm trying to step it up a bit more and see how it goes.
This weekend is my first run for the year. A 5k. I'm looking forward to it.
