When we first started dating, Dale told me he wanted to be a pilot. Fast forward nearly 4 years, and that's just the reason we moved to Alabama. I've been forbidden by him to talk much about it, but I think it's ok to say that I'm very proud of him for getting here, and even more proud of how he's doing. Seriously. He's rocking it out so far.
It's been a pretty big change to go from living in Lincoln to a town just outside of a large Army base. The sound of helicopters constantly fills the air and some nights, you can hear them firing rounds from the helicopters, which can be annoying when you're trying to sleep. Just about everyone I have contact with down here is in the military or is married to the military. The one thing that helps make life somewhat normal are the other families from Nebraska that are here too. I didn't realize how much of an impact living in Nebraska really had on me.
I miss my family, my friends, my job, and the control I had over my corner of the world. Here I'm just along for the ride. Maybe it'll be good for me. Maybe it'll make me more easy going. I guess we'll have to wait and see.
We miss you, too! But I think it will be a good experience for you. I often wish I could go somewhere else and do something totally different.
