We're having a baby!

Baby 2 is due August 15.

If you had no idea, don't feel left out. We haven't really announced it to anyone other than our family and close friends. I am now safely out of the first trimester, and at 15 1/2 weeks, I think it's pretty safe to say it's a sure thing.

Boy or girl? Many people assume we're after a girl but really neither Dale nor I really care which we get this time around. We both agree that a brother for Parker would be nice, but a little girl would be nice too. This is probably the one instance where I'm relieved the choice is not up to me.

Parker says he wants a sister, although not a baby sister, a big sister. This topic makes for interesting conversation with the little strong headed fella. I'm not sure where he comes up with some of his ideas, but it's endless entertainment.

Anyway, today I had my monthly prenatal checkup. Other than the insanely long wait (which reminded me of why I hate going to the doctor) everything went well. They have this hand-held portable ultrasound machine that they use for each visit, and it was so awesome. I saw Baby 2 squirming around and kicking it's legs, which was fun since I can't feel it yet. The heart rate was a quick 165, and that's all that went down at today's appointment.

Next month we get the anatomy ultrasound, so hopefully the baby cooperates and we get to find out what we're having. I know, it doesn't even cross most people's mind that they might not have the option of finding out what they're having. Family history (my two sisters) tells me that 1 of my 2 kids won't open it's legs enough for us to find out and since I was able to find out with Parker, I'm slightly weary. Fingers crossed I buck the family trend.

  1. Congrats!! So excited for you guys!

You are pregnant about the time I was pregnant last year. All I can say is that this is one of those times, living in the south isn't so pleasant. I became an evil a/c dweller constantly freaking out if the machine ever turned off. I was sooo hot!! Ugh.

Can't wait to find out the gender, if you so choose to disclose that on here. Exciting!!
