We didn't want anything too perfect, as we wanted something we could fix and make our own. We also didn't want a huge fixer upper. Something livable, but in need of some updates. One house was really nice, but it didn't have central air, and the day we toured, it was hot and muggy. It was also a little big for our needs. One had been beautifully redone and had a gorgeous kitchen, but the yard was kind of small and the 3rd bedroom was in the basement. Another was just limited with what you could do to it.
Then in January, the clouds parted and I found one in a great area of town. I almost had to force Dale to drive by it, but when he did, he agreed it was worth a look. We called the realtor, looked at it the next day, and put an offer in right away. I think it was on the market a whole 13 days or something before it was under contract with us.
It's not our "dream" home by any means, but it's a perfect starter home for our family. It's only a 2 bedroom, but there's plenty of yard space to add on, which was huge for us. It has a big basement, with a pool table, a HUGE backyard, and lots of cupboard space. The downside is there is wallpaper in every room and it's in need of some modernizing. But, it's very clean and solid and it's very livable as is, so it's not like we have to do any of it. It's just a matter of us wanting to make it ours.
And boy are we excited.
Congrats!!!
