I'm giving you fair warning: If you visit my house, expect it to be less than clean. To be more clear in what I mean by less than clean, I mean expect a disaster area.
I've had a few tornadoes come through in recent days. No, tornado isn't the right term. I guess I should call them hurricanes since they have names.
Macy's new favorite thing is to unload all the dvds off the shelf and pile them up elsewhere. As she does it, she says "heavy things" and pretends like she's working so hard. It's so cute, but so annoying because no matter how many times I ask, she won't put them away when she's done. She also insists upon playing games. She stands outside the closet that we keep all our games in and just yells at me to get her a game. Only she doesn't just want one game. She wants them all. At this very moment, there is a corner of the room dedicated to Operation, 2 Memory games, Candy Land, and Chutes and Ladders.
Parker, well, he's just his usual random self and has tiny toys scattered all over the house. That kid will turn any toy into something an Army guy needs. I really am impressed by his creativity though. He's had his cousin here with him the past 2 days, and two 5 year old boys really know how to wreck a house. Wow.
The worst hurricane in our house is the dog. He literally just scatters stuff everywhere, leaving behind tiny pieces of chewed everything in his wake. It's pretty ridiculous really.
Now on top of the hurricanes that blow through daily, I still have the other daily chores that I'm seriously far behind on.
Dishes. Laundry. Toilets. Floors. Dusting. Yeah, I'm living in a disaster area.
I know I just need one good high-energy day without anything else to do and I could get it all done. But I have that devil on my shoulder saying "What's the point? You'll have to do it all over again tomorrow."
I'll admit, I've never been very good at the whole cleaning everyday thing, but this is by far the worst it's been for me. I'm worn out. Work, kids, deployment, house, yard, dog, it's just a lot for one person to handle.
So I'll stick with my warning to others; My house isn't clean, but my kids are happy, and I guess that's really all that matters.
