Nesting

Are you ready to have your mind blown? Tiny Baby is due in 50 days. As in, 50 days from today.

Yeah, I know. Where the crap did this pregnancy go?

It's a funny thing when you're counting down both a pregnancy and a deployment. The deployment countdown goes so s-l-o-w-l-y and the pregnancy seems to fall to the back burner, almost as an afterthought, then suddenly the realization that life is about to get a whole lot harder hits you. Like a brick.

So as I come to grips with the knowledge that I'm very soon going to be birthing my third child, my stupid nesting instincts have kicked in and I'm finding myself cleaning things that I normally would just overlook. In the past 3 days or so I've ...

-Cleaned and sorted my tupperware and bakeware cupboards
-Cleaned and sorted my bathroom drawers and cabinets
-Wiped down the front of the kitchen cupboards
-Matched my collection of unmatched socks in the laundry room
-Sorted my dresser drawers and Parker's dresser drawers
-Cleaned out my closet
-Scrubbed the stovetop with some serious effort, not that half ass wipe job I usually do
-Changed the lightbulb in the bathroom that's been out for like a month

Plus all those other normal duties like dishes, laundry, trash and picking up after my hurricanes.

It's pretty strange really. I'm physically exhausted nearly all the time, but I have the urge to clean regardless. My mind even fights it, but I can't help but do whatever mundane task I have in my head that I MUST do or else. Oh instincts, how odd you are.

In addition to cleaning random things, I also have a strong urge to peel the wallpaper off in the bathroom, paint the faux brick backsplash in the kitchen and buy a new shelf for our dvd's that match the rest of the furniture in the living room.

I guess I'll just keep on doing things as I see the need and we'll see how far I get in my 50 days. Wow.
