There was far more to our vacation to Branson than Koda and his issues. We also had a glorious busy time with my family. You see, in my family, there are 3 girls. The best one, me, is the youngest. Each of us girls has 2 children, a boy and a girl. So on our excursions there were usually 4 adults, my sisters, mom and I, and 6 kids. The two oldest kids are my 10 year old nieces. Then we have two 5 year old boys and one 4 year old boy. Last is Miss Macy.
Majority of the time we hung out at my sisters house, which has a nice big basement you can banish the kids to when they're being wild. However, we did get to do a few other fun things too.
On the way down we stopped at the largest Bass Pro Shops in Springfield, Mo. It's pretty much the greatest place ever to stretch your legs after a big long car trip. They have huge fish tanks, lots of stuffed dead animals, and a real alligator. Plus lots of things you could buy if you're into that sort of thing. Since we went through in the middle of the day on a Wednesday, we got to play in the Santa area without having to deal with a crowd of kids. They had all sorts of things kids could do and play with, including free carousel rides. That was fun. We also went to Branson Landing, which is a sweet outdoor mall located beside lake Taneycomo that first day. The kids and I visited a candy store and spent way too much money on sugary sweets.
On Thursday, our hoard plus my brother-in-law, went to Silver Dollar City to ride a few rides and see the Christmas lights. They get serious there on their decorations, and it's always cool to see. They have a light/music show where the lights flash to the Christmas music, a holiday parade of lights, Christmas shows, and of course, all the non-water rides the kids want to brave. We also got to see the big guy, Santa Claus. The boys and Macy aren't quite big enough for the fun stuff, but we managed to ride what we could. The older girls and my mom, along with my sister and brother-in-law, braved a few roller coasters. I wish I could have joined them, but I guess it's not wise to ride those things when you're 6 months pregnant. My other sister and I took the boys and Macy to the ball area, where they had an absolute blast. When we got home, we had a mini-Christmas, where the kids all go to open their presents and go hog wild playing with their goods.
Friday we got to go to the show my musician brother-in-law plays in, the Hughes Brothers show. It's a whole family that performs together. There are like 5 brothers, their wives and their 30 some kids that perform in this thing and it was very good. Parker was enthralled the entire time. Macy slept through the first half, then when she woke up, she looked me straight in the eye and peed on my lap. Yeah, of course it spilled out of her pull-up and pants right onto my lap. Then we had to wait in line with a million old women to get into the bathroom to get cleaned up. I didn't have a spare pair of pants for her in the diaper bag (why i don't know) so she had to go the rest of the show sans pants and I had to go the rest of the show with wet pants. Pleasant thought right? I also developed a pretty severe headache I attribute to the trumpet that was blowing nearby, so the rest of the evening I was a grouch.
Saturday we had our family Thanksgiving. We ordered most of the food from the Rib Ranch, but we also made a few more Thanksgiving items at home like the sweet potato casserole and some stuffing. It was all super duper delicious. After we all digested for a while, we did a little outlet mall shopping, which is always fun, then we hung out all together for a while longer before it was time to go to bed and return home the next day.
And with that, I'll leave you with the photos, because they probably tell more of a story than I did.
