Ok, that's a little extreme. No, not the crazy part, the bad mom part. What's not extreme is that some days my sweet little high-maintanance girl makes me crazy. It's a completely true statement.
It's no secret that she's been a not-so-ideal baby since she's been born. I've blogged about having to hold her all day every day, how she wakes up multiple times a night, cries all the time and how she seems to always know when I fall asleep/wake up/make plans, etc. During the past 14 months, she has slowly gotten better. S-L-O-W-L-Y.
Dale's observation is that she is getting better but since we're with her all the time, we don't notice the small things as much. I have to agree with him. When I look at the big picture, I cannot deny that I'm no longer at my wits end every. single. day.
My sweet girl is taking regular naps now. She's sleeping a lot better at night (not completely through the night yet, but we're close.) Now that she can walk, I don't have to hold her all the time and she's starting to figure out how to communicate which really helps us to understand what she wants. It's a far cry from where we were just months ago, but we still have some distance to go.
Miss Macy is still a very high-maintanence girl. She spends a lot of our day yelling at because something's not going her way. She's very headstrong and insists upon being in the middle of everything. Very often, she fights bedtime until she's such a grouch I have no choice but to make her cry herself to sleep. She knows what she wants and when she wants it, but she doesn't know how to communicate it and I think that adds to her frustration. She's very moody and is the queen of 180's, one minute happy, the other mad. These are the things that make me crazy.
I read somewhere that intelligent babies are sometimes a lot more fussy because of their constant need for stimulation. I've decided that in order to save my sanity, that is the excuse I have for why my baby is so much more fussy than others. I mean, it's far easier to deal with my trips to crazytown if I have a super genius baby, right?
Speaking of super genius baby, there she goes again, screaming at me :)
