This past weekend we went to nowhere Nebraska so Dale could go hunting with his brother. While we were there, the kids and I went to Walmart to kill time and Parker ended up getting his fish a new figurine for Superhero's tank.
Exhibit A: Figurine.

All he could talk about was how excited he was to give Superhero her new thing for her tank and how she's going to love it so much. He talked about how much he loved his fish and how much he missed her. The entire drive home he held onto that figurine, just itching to get home.
We finally got home and walked into a very chilly house. I, thinking I was smart, had turned the thermostat down before we left for Nowhere Nebraska. I forgot that our fish might need some heat while we were gone and my heart sank to my toes when we looked into her tank to see she appeared to be not moving and stuck in her plant. A few tank taps and a shake and I declared that she was dead.
Oh the tears! So heartbreaking. I held my very sad boy and told him that I was so sorry. We decided that we would get him a new fish right away in the morning and that made him feel a bit better. So Dale and Parker prepared to give Superhero the big flush to that toilet in the sky. Parker insisted he do the flushing, but before she was dumped into the potty, she moved!
What! She didn't move at all when I shook her bowl and tapped right beside her, she had to be dead! Right? Turns out I was the one dead. Dead wrong that is.
Superhero was alive! Dale and Parker took a vigil beside her bowl as they warmed it up and she finally got to swimming and then finally eating again. Today she's swimming in her freshly cleaned tank just waiting for her proud owner to come home and put his figure into her tank.
Thank the Lord Superheroes are invincible!
Ahhhh, now that's a real Superhero story. What a happy ending!!! So glad she is alive.
