Back a few weeks ago, when I was having the worst week of this deployment, one wonderful thing happened. I won a patriotic wreath from a blog I follow, To Love a Soldier, written by a fellow sister-in-arms.
I had been wanting to get something like this since we moved to this house, so I'm very very excited to finally have the perfect thing to greet guests when they arrive at our house. Of course, once you're past the front door, it's hit or miss on if you get hurricane house or clean house, but at least the front door looks good!
Once this was hung up, I decided I had finally get around to making a big yellow Support Our Troops ribbon to tie to the power line in the front yard. I looked online for big yellow bows, but the only ones I found were a bit more than I wanted to spend on something I knew I could make myself. I had bought the ribbon for this project months ago, but didn't get around to making my bow until this weekend.
I got out my $0.97 roll of yellow ribbon, my glue gun, some glue sticks, a safety pin and some velcro and went to work. I'm quite please with out it turned out.
So now I have my patriotic door wreath, my big yellow ribbon and my American flag all on display in support of my dear sweet husband and his comrades.
