Life's side effect

One side effect of this busy month is that housework has definitely been moved to the back burner in my life. Wow. The saddest part is I haven't done it on purpose either.

I have seriously picked up the kids' toys on the floor, washed at least a load of laundry and hand washed (we don't have a dishwasher) a sink full of dishes each day I've been home, and if you were to come into my house at this very moment, you'd probably think I do nothing.

The couch is FULL of clothes that need to be folded. The floor is FULL of toys I haven't had the energy to pick up today. The sink is, well, not full but it won't be long until it is. And I don't even want to talk about the bathroom. Sigh.

Now that I think about it though, maybe it's not just because of this busy month. Maybe it's just a side effect of life. I'm sure if you have kids or have ever had kids, you probably have the same problems. The laundry and dishes are never really done, the toilet never cleans itself, and if you pick up the toys, they always find their way right back into the middle of your floor.

But, if you're like me, that occasional "why do I even bother" bug sneaks his way into your head at night when the kiddos are in bed and instead of cleaning like you normally do at that time, you put it off one more day to sit down alone and read a good book instead.

  1. te he -- like my quote above the sink "when I get the urge to clean house...I lay down til it passes." ........ It's a lot of work that never stays caught up, it gets so frustrating.
