So far, the kids and I have been handling things fine without Dale. But, he's also been in Georgia since he left. The true test will come this weekend, when I can no longer count on our normal daily communication schedule.
Dale will officially leave the States in 2 days and from what I understand, after a few stops in some other countries, he'll be arriving at Kuwait City, Kuwait late Friday/early Saturday.
I looked at the weekend forecast for Kuwait City, and on Friday the high is 116 degrees F and the low is 95 degrees. On Saturday the high is 117 degrees F. Let's all say a collective yuck.
Dale's final destination is Bagram Airfield, which north of Kabul. You'll be happy to hear it's not near as hot there as it is in Kuwait City. I'd compare the weather at Bagram to the weather here, so it's nothing excessive.
Why am I checking the weather? Because it's just about the only thing about this deployment that I am going to be able to observe. It kind of makes me feel like I'm in the know. Lame, yes, but what's a girl to do right?
