The time difference between here and Bagram Airfield, Afghanistan is approximately 9.5 hours. So when it's 10:30pm here, it's 8:00am there. That means when we're going to bed, Dale's waking up. And when Dale's going to bed, we're having lunch.
This is good information to know because by the time, say, his birthday rolls around here, he'll already be 9.5 hours into his day there. It's also important to understand why he's emailing or calling at odd times.
Now, to throw another wrench in the time bucket, Dale will start flying sometime this weekend and his schedule is going to change.
He could be flying nights and sleeping days, which would mean his schedule would be more on tune with ours. That would be ideal. Worst case would be if his free evening time coincides with our night time and we never ever got to talk. Lets hope that doesn't happen.
Of course no matter what, we'll adjust to whatever, it's just what families do.
