Moving to level 2

After three very long weeks, today was Parker's last day for swim lessons this year.

It was his second time taking level 1. Last year he refused to put his face in the water, which meant he'd have to retake it. This year, we had some issues at the beginning, but the purchase of some goggles proved to be a good investment. He gained all sorts of confidence and was able to complete all the requested tasks.

He's a pretty timid fella, and it takes him a little bit to do things like jump in the pool, or off the diving board. He cried a few times and refused to do some stuff at times, but eventually he would do it and figured out that it really isn't all that hard. The lifeguards were extremely nice and understanding to him, for which I am very grateful.

This year, the last thing Parker had to do a 3 second backfloat to pass level 1. He couldn't do it yesterday, so he had one last chance today. He went out there and just couldn't do it the way she wanted, so he was going to fail. However, this momma complained, because it looked like a darn backfloat to me and he got to try one more time. This time he was able to rock it. :)

After that, it was fun day. The lifeguards handed out medals to the kids who took swim lessons, and they even handed out special hand trophies to a few lucky kids. Our very own Parker won such a trophy for being the "Most Improved." I'm pretty proud!

The greatest news of all however is next year we're moving to level 2. Oh yeah!!!
