Alabama resident

Alabama. Oh Alabama... This place never ceases to amaze me.

Today I went to the DMV to get an Alabama drivers license. I didn't want to do it, but since my Nebraska one expired on my 26th birthday, I really had no choice. Anyway, there is one place in the county I live in that you can go to and it's only open 2 days a week. I researched and asked around and found out that it's in this place called the "Farm Center" in one of the nearby towns.

Parker and I headed out to go find this place, and I guess it was my mistake to assume it would be a nice building or something. I pull up to where the directions said it was, and I felt like I was walking into a pavilion at a county fair or something. There was a single car in the parking lot, and the doors were wide open with huge fans (like the one's that fan livestock) set out. As I walked in further, I found a big open area full of green astro turf, bleachers on both sides, and a row of metal folding chairs set out in front of this wood paneled wall with two wooden doors in the center. On a chair outside of the doors was a sign in sheet to get your drivers license. Ya, it was weird.

So we waited until we got called in, had a mishap with a missing birth certificate, drove home, found it, drove back, signed in again, then prepared to get my Alabama license. I figured there would be some paperwork for me to fill out, and maybe a written test I'd have to take, but nope, all I had to do was the vision test, get my picture taken, and pay.

The woman helping me was shocked that I couldn't read line 4 with my left eye (if you didn't know, it's lazy or if you want a technical word, I have amblyopia). I mean, it's not like it's a really rare condition or anything, but I HAD to be able to read line 4 so I had to just guess my way through it. Then she was amazed that I was in fact not having twins because I'm so huge she thought for sure I was.

Anyway, after all that, I am now officially an Alabama girl and as Dale said, with my new short hair and my fat body I fit right in with the rest of them. :(
