I'm in a rut and I'm behind on blog posts. Sorry. I'll attempt to catch up, I promise.
Some of you may be wondering how my solo flight with the kids turned out. It went shockingly well actually. We flew out of the new airport at Panama City Beach and it was a very pleasant experience. I'd compare the airport to a mix between the Lincoln and Epply airports in size and business.
There was zero wait in security and even though we got the whole pat down/luggage search to make sure we weren't a dangerous group of people, it wasn't stressful at all. Parker thought it was pretty cool they had to make sure all of our stuff was safe for us. The strangest part was that Parker had to get the pat down too, but I think that they only did that so he could be as cool as me. It's not like they actually went all out in his pat down or anything.
Macy was awake the entire time we waited for our flight, so I was nervous about how she was going to do on the plane since she gets fussy when she's over tired. The flight from Panama City Beach to Atlanta was on a little plane and we were in the very front row, which has a little more room. Just before takeoff Macy did cry a little bit, and the man across from us commented that he left his ipod in his luggage, like I cared. She ended up sleeping the entire flight and Parker watched a movie.
Once we got to Atlanta, we had time to hop on the tram to get to the right terminal for our next flight, use the restroom, then board our last flight to Omaha. The no wait between flights worked for us this time because both kids ended up sleeping majority of the next flight. We were in the back of the plane, and it was super loud, so I put some noise canceling ear muffs on Macy and she was out.
In the grand scheme of things, flying up was a great idea. The kids didn't have to sit in their car seats for a million hours and Dale was able to straight shoot the trip up by himself in the car, saving money we'd have to use on rest stops and hotels. It'd be way easier if I had an extra adult hand to help, but it's also a good feeling to know I can do it by myself if I had to again.
