State of Emergency

Tonight is supposed to bring a ginormous ice storm to our area and heavy snowfall to the north of us. Due to this forecast, the State of Alabama has already declared a State of Emergency. State agencies, schools and roads have already been closed for tomorrow as well.

"We face a serious storm that will have an impact all across Alabama. With the accumulations of ice that are projected to begin tonight, motorists should stay off roads during these conditions. State agencies have been preparing for this dangerous weather and have already called up extra manpower and equipment. However, the most important thing right now is for citizens to be constantly aware of the hazards and to make sure they themselves are prepared. I urge all Alabamians to heed the weather reports and to make sure their families and friends do the same,” said Alabama Governor Bob Riley.

It just blows my mind that a forecast for a minor winter storm can bring an entire state to it's knees. I guess it's a good thing we ran to Walmart today and got milk because it's not looking like we'll be able to go anywhere tomorrow because of ALL THE ICE. I mean it's going to be terrible. It's supposed to be a low of 29 tonight and tomorrow is only supposed to get up to 45. BRRR. I sure hope we can keep safe and warm while this state is in such dire winter straits. :)
