I want to start this post by admitting that I'm addicted to caffeine. I need it. If I don't have my morning coffee, I'm grouchy the entire day and I get a headache from lack of caffeine. It's not a pretty sight, I assure you.
It all started a few days ago, when I ran out of coffee and it wasn't in my plans to drive to the nearest town with a grocery store just to buy coffee. I made myself some tea that day, because it's the next best thing to coffee for those of us addicted to caffeine. It seemed to work ok. I wasn't exhausted, but I did have a headache, which I blamed on my contacts since I knew it couldn't be from lack of caffeine since I drank that tea.
Anyway, I happened to run to the store the next day to buy a few items and quickly grabbed a bag of coffee out of the hoard available. The next morning, as I stumbled into the kitchen to make my coffee, I realize I grabbed a bag of whole beans, and I'm not the whole bean kind of gal. So, I tried to do my best at grinding up the beans by smashing them with a glass, and I attempted to brew some coffee. It came out a really really light brown color, and was essentially a failure. No problem, I just made myself some tea instead.
Last night, I spent 20 minutes smashing up the beans so I'd have a good pot of coffee this morning. This was a good decision on my part because Macy thought 5 a.m. was a good time to wake up and puke all over. It continued all morning, and the coffee really helped make a terrible morning a little bit brighter.
Then this evening, I decided I needed a little pick-me-up and I made myself a glass of tea. It was then that I realized all summer long, I've been drinking decaffeinated tea. Yup, it says right on the jar DECAF.
All I can think is 'Of course! Why wouldn't it be?'
I'm addicted to caffeine too and I don't even want to start my day without it! I'd of pry had to make that special trip to the nearest store! I've been drinking it since I was about 15 (taking a cup of coffee out to the barn to keep me a little warmer). I jesterly tell people it's about the only thing that I do EVERY day without fail except get out of bed. :) It's kinda funny/wierd - the one thing I do every day, drink coffee.
