One more week until Dale's home. Yay!
I think it's safe to say that with only 7 days left, we've survived our "trial deployment." I use the parenthesis because 1. it wasn't really a deployment, just training and 2. other than him not being home, I don't think it really compares to actually having a spouse deployed. But, it was a sort of practice for the inevitable day where he actually is deployed.
Anyway, I'm proud to say that I survived being a single momma for the past 87 days. My sanity was saved by the various friends and family who helped my by watching my kids when I needed a much needed break, or to mow the lawn, or to go to the dentist, doctor, etc.
Of course it wasn't as bad as it could have been. We kept very busy this summer, and that helped the time fly by a lot quicker than if it were wintertime. We also got to talk to Dale everyday, Skype with him often, and we were lucky enough to see him once a month, even if it was for a short time.
Dale's last check-ride for the fixed wing course is Friday. Once all done with this course he will be both a helicopter and fixed-wing aviator. Pretty awesome. We're super proud and super ready to have him home.
