His name is ...

Our puppy has a name!

It wasn't easy. We had a harrowing debate during dinner the night we got him. Macy's suggestions were Woody and Dog. Parker had a lot of suggestions including: Sharkie, Brave Bear, White Neck, Brown Coat, Tiger, Soldier, Army, Smarty, Run Hop, and Finny. Dale suggested Launchpad, Killer, Ace, Rucker, Bullet and Koda. I said Trigger, then later hopped onto Parker's side and thought Finn would be a good dog name.

We voted. Then argued. Then voted. Then flipped a coin. We still weren't sure, but I was out voted 2 to 1 (Macy wasn't budging away from naming him Dog) and his name officially became Koda.

In case you didn't know, Koda is a Boston Terrier. He has a brindle coat, which is defined as a coat patterned with specks and streaks of light and dark markings. He is everything we wanted in a dog.

We've been looking for a puppy ever since we got our new house. We knew we wanted a smaller dog for now, and narrowed it down to a Boston Terrier. So we scoured the classifieds, and online and could never find anything that was within our price range or near Nebraska. We had almost given up hope and were starting to look for a more commonly found Dachshund, but a random trip to a pet store in Lincoln resulted in me not only finding a Boston, but a brindle one at that! Exactly what I wanted.

So far, he's been a wonderful puppy. He doesn't whine at night. He only barks when he's playing. He's only had a handful of accidents in the house, and he loves the kids. Most importantly, the kids love him. I can tell Parker is one proud doggie owner and he takes good care of Koda every day. Macy also takes care of "dog" by bringing him his bowl of water, no matter where he is in the house.

I think we're all glad to finally have this lovable, huggable little guy as a new family member.
