Oh Enterprise Walmart, how I hate you with all my heart. I wish I didn't have to ever go spend my money with you. I hate how unfriendly your employees are, I hate how your parking lot is always full, and most of all I hate how rude and lazy 90% of your shoppers are.
I usually make it a point to park pretty far back and near a cart corral when I go to Walmart. I do it for the extra exercise, and to make sure I can return my cart without having to carry Parker halfway across the lot. Today, I found a perfect spot and when I started to turn into it, noticed there were 2 carts just left all willy nilly at the end of the space. This irritates me to all heck, because within ten feet there was a cart corral. I glanced around about 5 spots in each direction, and there were literally 7 carts just left in the parking lot not far from where you return them. Seriously. How lazy can a person be that they can't push their cart 5 spaces over to return it. This isn't the first time I've encountered this here either.
When we go inside Walmart, nobody smiles and says hello. If you ask for help, it's like you're an inconvenience to the employee. Even when you check out, the cashier barely asks you a question other than "debit or credit". I hate it. It makes me feel like I did something terrible by shopping there. It just doesn't seem right. In Nebraska, I always got greeted when I came in the door and Parker always got a smiley face sticker. Employees always seemed to ask if I needed help before the thought even crossed my mind. They would almost always greet me when I checked out too.
Maybe the reason the employees are so unfriendly is because of how rude the shoppers are. I have no idea who claimed that southern people were friendly, because I have experienced way more unfriendliness than anything else down here. Nobody says excuse me when they cut you off in an aisle. No one smiles as you pass them in the cereal aisle. Getting somebody to move their cart so you can pass is like giving them the biggest inconvenience of their life or something. It's just not nice. Or perhaps, it's just me. Maybe because when I'm not smiling, I look like a bitch. Seriously. This is a proven fact about me. It's a family trait really.
I don't have much choice though, unless I want to drive to the next town over. All we have here is Walmart, so I guess my hate relationship with it will continue for a long while.
I was quite proud of myself for avoiding Walmart here in Lincoln for the past 10 months. Then I broke my record when my daughter wanted a toy we could not find in Target. Fortunately, the experience was much more pleasant than I remember - but I was in and out in less than 15 minutes. :-)
ReplyDeleteWow - it does make one appreciate good ole Nebraska doesn't it. I've even read it in the sports world that NE fans are the best for friendliness and good sportsman behaviors. Hmm...had another comment on that but forgot it already.... I think it's ......Gramheimerz... :)
