We celebrated his birthday first last Saturday in Alabama. I baked the strawberry cake he wanted and he helped me frost and decorate it. I bought a multi-colored sprinkle dispenser thinking he'd like to mix the colors and sprinkle them on, but I was wrong. One by one, he dumped a pile of sprinkles on his cake and spread them slowly out. He said he made a party on his cake, and I have to agree. It did look like a fun party :) We had a fantastic time decorating it, and to be honest, I think it was way more special decorating that cake with him than it would have been if I bought it at the store (like I originally planned). You can check out our masterpiece below.
When it came time to eat it, we lit the candle and sang Happy Birthday, but Parker wasn't ok with just one song. He made us light the candle and sing to him 4 more times before we finally convinced him it was time to eat. He wanted a piece with blue sprinkles on it, but being the picky eater that he is, never even tried a bite. He would lick some frosting off his fingers, but that's about it. This is year 3 of him not eating his birthday cake. I wonder how long it will take for him to realize how yummy it really is.
When we got to Nebraska, we had another party with my sister, mom, niece and nephew. He had spiderman cupcakes and got to open more presents. Other than not getting to see his dad on his actual birthday, I think he had a great one this year. Happy Birthday Parker Pants!
Awwww, what a neat cake! Happy Birthday, Parker!
