It's been 90 degrees everyday for the past week. It's May. That's disgusting.
Back in December when I found out we were expecting, I guess it was hard for me to register that I'd have to be super pregnant in the hottest months of the year. Sure, I was in Nebraska and there was snow on the ground then, but it still didn't seem like a summer of pregnancy would be nearly intolerable. I know one thing, I sure wasn't prepared for what a summer in the south was going to feel like.
Weather.com says the average high temperature in Enterprise, Alabama for this month is 86. It also states the average high for the rest of the summer months are June: 88; July: 90; August: 89; September: 86. It finally drops down to a reasonable 78 degree average high in October. Let's compare that to Lincoln, Nebraska. The average high so far for May is 74. The summer months average like this, June: 84; July: 88; August: 86; September: 79. I seriously thought Nebraska summers were bad, and now I'm scared of how ignorant I actually was when it came to hotness.
As you all know, humidity makes the heat worse, and I haven't even factored that in yet. According to cityrating.com, the average yearly humidity for Lincoln is 82% in the a.m. and 62% in the p.m. For Montgomery, Alabama (closest bigger city) it is 86% in the a.m. and 59% in the p.m. Whew. At least the night's will be nicer here...
My already elevated body temperature and pregnancy hot flashes really don't help with the equation either. Stay tuned for my future post titled I'm melting, due out this summer.
I can relate completely! Ugh, last summer in Florida was agonizing. Our a/c bill was very large and I was so cranky. I feel for you! It's so much easier being that pregnant in the winter.
ReplyDeleteIf it makes you feel any better, I'm in Nebraska right now and it's not much better. I think it was 88 and very humid.
Yes, that does make me feel better!
ReplyDeleteI'm glad there's someone who can relate to this whole pregnant in the south thing though. I'm not crazy to think it's way hotter here am I? :)
