The lucky ones, then there's me

Parker and I went to the pool on post today. As I sat in a chair by the kiddie pool wearing my mumu, in walked Mrs. Mom of 4, teeny tiny infant included, wearing a bikini. So not fair. That woman must have hella awesome genes to not have a single stretch mark/piece of saggy skin after having 4 children.

My bikini wearing days ended when I had just one child. I remember being so happy at not having any stretch marks when I was 7.5 months pregnant with him, but during that last month and a half, a tiger attacked. My amazing perfect Parker turned my 22 year old body into a giant stretch mark and even when I lost all of my baby weight, my stomach never looked the same.

Now, don't feed me those lines about lotions and how they do all the preventing of stretch marks, because I applied lotion all the damn time while pregnant with Parker and I still got them. Heredity is the main key when it comes to good ol' stretch marks, and well I drew the short end of the stick apparently. Through deductive reasoning (asking my mom) I have found that these magic stretch mark genes came from my papa and not her since apparently, she didn't get any (or many).

Of course, I've come to grips with the fact that I'll never be a bikini model and that's ok. It's all completely worth it in the end, and obviously, I'm doing it all over again. haha.

On a different subject, Parker had a blast at the pool today and so did I. We'll probably go there more often as the summer goes on because moving around in the pool is a lot easier on me than walking. He played in the kiddie pool until it got taken over by a group of daycare kids, then he and I swam in the big pool. It was a wonderful time and I'm glad it's a nice free activity we can do.

  2. Oh boy. I've got my share of those darn stretch marks, too. Tons and tons of them. HATE them!!! But you're right - totally worth it in the end!
