I'm 3/4 of the way through this pregnancy. Whoo!
Today I had another check-up and all is well. Little miss gymnest is currently breach with her legs straight out in front of her. Picture the ol' sit and stretch from your high school gym class. That's what she's doing.
I'm debating changing my OB though. For about every appointment, I've had to wait more than an hour in the waiting room, followed by at least 15 to 20 minutes more in the exam room. Today I had a 9:30 appointment that I was on time for. I was in the waiting room until 10:40 before I was called back. Then I was in the exam room until 11:20 before my doctor finally came in. Of course by that time, I wasn't in the mood to ask a ton of questions because I was hungry, had to pee, and was tired of being there. This happens all the time, and I'm really getting annoyed. Am I crazy to change OB's at 30 weeks pregnant or should I just stick it out?
Don't get me wrong, I understand that waiting is part of the game. I remember when I was pregnant with Parker, all of my appointments took at least an hour and a half, but the difference is, I got to spend a decent amount of time with my OB and I didn't feel like I was being rushed out the door. I don't know. Maybe I'm overreacting. I like the doctor just fine, it's just I don't like showing up for my appointment on time only to have to wait nearly 2 hours to spend 5 whole minutes with the doctor.
I'm going to think on it for a day or so before I decide what to do. If I do change OB's, I have to make another appointment with my primary care physician at the hospital on base to get a referral into the system so it's paid for. That makes changing doctors a bigger pain in the butt than it's already going to be too.
Oh decisions decisions.
I'd say it doesn't hurt to investigate finding a new doctor - and it doesn't hurt to let your current doctor know. Competition is a good thing - it helps keep people in line. Remember you are paying them to be there not the other way around. Sometimes I think those doctors need reminded of that. You're good at speaking out - go for it!
