Last week, I took Parker to the library on post for story time. They had a bunch of cute little pillows the kids could sit on, and one of the other mom's volunteered to read the books to the kids. After the books were read, we sang songs, then colored. It was a pretty good time.
Parker got to check out 2 books while we were there. He choose "The Babies are Coming" and "But I Wanted A Baby Brother!" without any coaching from me. I guess he's got baby on the brain like his mama.
We're going to make it a habit of going each week. I loved going to the library when I was little, and hope Parker gets to be the same way. He already loves books so surely he'll love the library too. The other plus side of going to story time is I get to check out books as well.
Last week I began "Eragon" by Christopher Paolini. It's another series that was recommended to me, and so far it's pretty decent. It's a whole different ball game than the last book I read, which was "Band of Brothers" by Stephen Ambrose. I had started "Faith of My Fathers" by John McCain, but I needed a time out from the seriousness of real military/war related stories, so after I read Eragon, my mind should be up for it again, I hope.
Other books on my must read list:
Eldest, Christopher Paolini
Brisingr, Christopher Paolini
The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo, Stieg Larsson
The Girl who Played with Fire, Steig Larsson
The Girl who Kicked the Hornet's Nest, Steig Larsson
The Glass Castle, Jeannette Walls
The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo series is a MUST. You'll love it. Beware, though. Once you start reading, you won't want to stop.
