Two is better than one

Watching a single child all day sounds like it'd be the easiest thing in the world, but as I've found out, it's really not. They constantly want your attention because you're the only one around for them to play with. I'm usually pretty good at playing with Parker, but the more pregnant I get, the harder it is to adjust to his imagination. I can no longer wrestle him, crawl around on the floor while pretending to be whatever animal he assigned to me, and the constant ups and downs he makes me do are hard on this huge body.

Watching two children who are at least both old enough to walk however, is cake. I learned this long ago while watching my nephew and Parker at the same time. They pretty much play together and all you have to do is sit back and referee if needed. It's awesome.

I have the honor of watching a friend's soon-to-be two-year-old son today and tomorrow and I'm so excited. He's not quite old enough to really talk, but Parker and him are pals. Parker takes on the older child persona where he can do everything by himself, and he kind of watches over the younger guy. The younger one follows Parker around and tries to do what he's doing. It works so well that I just get to sit back and listen to them play together. I love it.

I was even lucky enough today that I got them both to take a nap at the same time, in the same room, without any crying. This amazes me. I hope I'm lucky enough tomorrow to be blessed with the same nap-time outcome. I guess I'm just going to have to wear them out earlier in the day so they'll really want that nap in the afternoon. Then, maybe I'll just have to take myself a little nap too...
